We're Yael and Michal, and we came to this from exactly where you are now - pregnancy, birth, long nights of nursing, and a great many questions with nobody to ask at three in the morning.

When we went looking for answers we found forums contradicting each other and articles with no source at all. So we did the thing we wish someone had done for us: we gathered what the recognised health bodies actually say, put it all in one place, and wrote it in language you can read while exhausted.

That is all this content is. And because it touches health, we want to be completely clear about what it is - and what it is not.

Who we are

We're the team behind Yael & Michal. We are not doctors, nurses, lactation consultants, or psychologists, and nothing here is professional advice.

We're mothers who cared enough to read a great deal, and who would like to save you the search.

What you'll find here

General information gathered from recognised public sources - among them the NHS, the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, La Leche League and the Israeli Ministry of Health - and summarised as carefully as we could.

Every fact links to the source it came from, at the foot of the page it appears on, with the date it was checked. You're welcome to check us. That is deliberate.

What you won't find here

Diagnosis, prescription, or a recommendation about a medicine or a dose. We report what health bodies have published and we name them, and nothing beyond that.

Nothing here is medical, nursing, psychological, nutritional or halachic advice, and reading it does not create a practitioner-patient relationship or any advisory relationship of any kind.

We try hard to get it right, and we cite our sources so you can check us - but this cannot replace talking to a professional who knows you and your baby. For anything that matters, check with your doctor, midwife, or an IBCLC lactation consultant. They can see you and your baby; we cannot.

If something feels urgent, contact your healthcare provider or emergency services.

When we name an organisation

We quote published guidance word for word, in quotation marks, with a link to the source. When we name an organisation such as the CDC, the NHS, La Leche League, or the Israeli Ministry of Health, we are only citing their published guidance; it does not mean they endorse, sponsor, approve, or are affiliated with us. They have no involvement with this site, and we never use their logos or seals.

Health guidance changes over time, and every quotation is accurate as of the date shown beside it.

About what we sell

Yael & Michal sells nursing bras, which are comfort garments and not medical devices; we do not claim they prevent, treat, or cure any medical condition. The information here is a free resource, written to be useful on its own - it is separate from anything we sell.

Halachic content

We are not rabbis. Where we summarise halachic sources, that is a summary for general knowledge and is not a halachic ruling. For any practical question, consult your own rav or posek. Where authorities differ, we present both views and do not decide between them.

If we get something wrong

We will. We're human. If you find something that isn't accurate, tell us - we'll check it, correct it, and say what changed and when.
